I have been testing with dpinstance with kray. I think dennis has done a great job with dpinstance and it would be great if kray would support it. You can do offset animation with dpinstance and a lot more.
But now dpinstance sometimes renders black with kray. I'm sure if kray team and dennis work together we could have a great instancing solution.

I have tried to get in touch with Denis about this but it looks like he wasn't interested. Maybe you guys can write to him so he can see there is interest for it...
