Guinigi Tower (Lucca, Italy)

Hi all. This is my interpretation of Guinigi tower, the only tower I know (in Italy) having a little garden on its top - with few trees in it.
Actually the surrounding buildings are different, but I needed the picture for a didactical and artistic purpose, so I haven't reality as a target.
I have not skills in managing kray instances: I used it for the roof tiles, for the plant in the white vase and for the trees. While I find the tiles satisfying I am not happy with the trees. I used the kray surface options with photon mapping, unchecking the cache irradiance option and imposing 1-10 as min-max rays.
I find the shadows are not so convincing.

C&C welcome :)

Hi,

nice work! As for the trees - your render settings are OK but the problem is in the material. Leaves are quite complex materials that need carefully tuned reflection, diffuse and translucency maps. Try my leaf material preset, it works well for me.

Many thanks, Jure. I'll try it ;)

I tested your leaves surface but the render was too dark in the trees. Naturally, better than my washed preavious render, of course!
So I used the first render and the new one to PP this image.
Many thanks for the surface.
