Hello everybody!

My first new Kray 2.0 RC 5 Render

First render is in HD 1920x1080, with High General Render preset with FSAA.Time render: 6 Hours 3 Minutes 14 seconds (Yeaaahhhh)
First HD render HIGH PRESET FSAA
First HD render HIGH PRESET FSAA
Second one is in double HD 3840x2160 with Low General preset but still with FSAA.Time render: 37 Minutes 49 seconds
Second Double HD render LOW preset FSAA
Second Double HD render LOW preset FSAA
recurse 20, irradianceblurgamma 0.3, Exponential 1.6, 1.0

LW 9.6+ Bi Xeon QuadCore CPU@3GHz, 8 Go RAM

Time render too big I know...for better AA should I render in double resolution with a lower render quality preset like "medium" maybe?

KRAY ROCKSSSSS

Should I post it on evermotion? lool

I let " limit DR After Tonemap " since I don't really understand the difference between differents options...before after??...:-(

Nice work man, but use post process Blur with photoshop + Depth map instead, it's far more clean, reversible and cuts your render time.
keep up the good work!

That scene shuld be render under 20 min~ in Super HQ .
Just need FSAA Grid 2-3 BOX 1.0 + Z-buffer + PS DoF Pro. Thats all :D
You can post that render without DoF + Z-buffer (4 m) I will show You....
btw
Please don`t forget about LWF and Reinhard (my favorites: Gamma 1.2 LWF + HSV / Exponential 2.2 - BOTH connected in Reinhard blending 30% - 30% Gamma, 70% exponential ) Recurse 10 is enough.

lol mathew! I love your image! Especialy tha Kray f***** Vray part. :P

Btw. you can remove irradianceblurgamma 0.3... I don't think it'll do much for you there. High presets are overkill yeah. Whyt you need in this image is medium photon preset and medium FG preset for start I think.

It's good idea to use FG min rays ~100 max ~800 and prerender passes 2. For AA like johny said - but if you use DOF you may be better off with Random FSAA (so you don't get "steps" in blur but noise instead).

Also try tonemap blending plugin like johny said: just select Kray Tonemap blending from the master plugins and you can leave defualt settings for start. Also add Kray QuickLWF plugin and also leave default settings. And in Kray Options>General tab change tonemap to Linear.

The difference is that if you limit DR (dynamic range) before image gets tonemaped then the dynamic range of the image will first be reduced to 0-255 RGB. And after this tonemapper will be applied (which can push colors out of 255 range again if you use high exposure).

But when using limitDR after tonemap this won't happen since tonemap will be applied first and limiting will happen after this.

Anyways most of the time you want to keep it After tonemap.

Johny, will you just quit screwing around and do some video tutorials! ;)

Or I'll come round your house and beg you until you do!

:D

P.S. @ mathewlp - LOVE the Kray / Vray logo, flippin' hilarious! :D

Is Reinhard tonemapping setting still in development? Or can we have access to this feature by a command?

What Johny is calling "Reinhard" is acctually Tonemap Blend between Gamma and exponential. You do this by using Kray tonemap blend master plugin.

Thnx for the quick answer.

And to close the subject, two more questions :

-Do the tonempapping plugin overwrite the classic setting in general tab?

-Do we still have to use the QLWF plugin, or is it useless now?

No. You should turn the tonemap in general tab to Linear. Otherwise Kray Tonemap blend will be applied on top of any tonemaper selected here which may cause undesired effect.

Yes. If you want a proper linear workflow QLWF should still be used.
