No shadows on animation

Hey everyone, I've got an animation project that takes place in a childrens room, so...I'm using Kray. I'm taking an animation from Maya exported through Point Oven (bakes the points/vertices/ect. of the mesh producing a .mdd file for each object) in to LightWave. I notice though that Kray doesn't render the shadows when using "Shared for all frames" and "Allow animation" checked. It works with no GI cache.

My 2nd question would be why am I getting light like that underneath that ball? It's not luminous.

1st Q: that is correct. Shared GI will only render static indirect shadows. However if you add area light for direct shadows then you will get animated shadows...

2nd Q: it looks like light leak. Check your photon map if it is maybe blurred too much (bluring photons from outside with those from inside)

I've got an area light ceiling height shown in the attachment. I'm confused.

Maybe it's set to render as indirect? Or it is too weak?

To weak...I had it upside down (-90). I'm a knucklehead... I'll post later the re-rendered results.

Just out of curiousity, does Kray do the motion blur on animated objects?

Hi Larry, good find on that light ! good thing that doesnt happen in real life !

as far as motion blur I recommend just using the RSMB blur plugin in post, its WAY faster and the quality is excellent, I do not render MB directly from Kray, it takes ages due to the AA passes needed.

Does anyone use Kray's MB anyway?

I applied MB Photoreal in the Camera Panel, and I don't see it in the Kray renders. Am I missing somthing?

What or where can I find RSMB blur plug-in? Is it post for LW or something like AE or Combustion?

Larry -

I use the AE one, here it is :

http://www.revisionfx.com/products/rsmb

again, works excellent, much better than other plugins I had in the past (like BCC's motion blur for instance)

You must use FSAA or Random antialiasing.

I have AE and Combustion...so thanks, I'll check it out.

That looks like that was the trick, thanks! But wow, the render time jumped up. I'll play around with it and check out that plug-in Mats mentioned. I'll post the final when I've got the okay by the animator.

EDIT: I think I found a decent quality to render time ratio. ;)
