what is the option Random Seed good for, especially the numbers that can be entered? I thought that the number of instances is related to the numbers of points they are attached to. Thanks.

It's for changing the random number of the values. So for example if you are not happy how your instances are scaled or rotated you can change random seed and they will be changed...
