Hi! What version HD_Instance is used in your scene?

It's not HD instance, it's Kray instance.
Integrated Kray instance tool that you can use to create instanced randomized geometry from original model, using points sprayed along the carpet area...

Johny is using a new implementation of kray instances which is currently in internal beta testing. Unfortunately there is no documentation on the wiki as of yet. The new tools are great as you can use geometry and points instead of nulls to drive instances

I hope that new implementation respect bones, displacement maps, nodal displacement and motion modifiers from the original object, so we can have at least a way to have animated trees!!!!

This is totaly easy setup:
small wire and points clone.Points clone are convert to poly for puting texture carpet.
In instant wire fur getting colours from points (but no only from point - from area where are point) We can render any carpet with difference texture and colours. This is very important becouse every hair getting another colour....
btw carpet have 92 kb....and I can render it on the square 1 km/1 km or bigger.
