Academic License?

Hi all

I am interested in KRay, and have a question about the criteria for an academic license - is it for students only or does it include non-commercial use? 3D is purely a hobby for me so $500 is a lot to justify when I won't be earning the money back by using the software. Any information would be gratefully received

Thanks

Nevermind, I have received an email from Grzegorsz. Sadly there is no non-commercial license - academic is for students only.

Probably gonna buy it anyway though, I just got a tax rebate

Actually it makes sense to not have a non-commercial licence. CGI is an expensive business at the high end. PC specs are high, software is expensive and needs updating regularly and then there are the plugins, resources, support applications like Photoshop - just think, over $1000 for a support application! For 3d applications, you expect to pay for quality.

It's an expensive hobby, but considering what some people spend on modifying their cars, hi-fi, music or even fishing equipment I guess, the price people pay for their passion can be massive.
