Hi,
Thought I'd try out the latest beta with the famous Brian Howard room.
Scene setup is spotlight for sun with skylight, most surfaces have some sort of reflection blur.
Using medium(ish) kray settings, nothing fancy, rendered on a 8-core MacPro.

wow looks great, just wow.
apart from some functionality and features.. quality-wise Kray has nothing to envy Vray anymore

Nice test.

Very nice in speed also. Seems to me that the Kray uses the cores even better than some other renderers in LW (more true speed gain in processor speeds when you add cores).
Just gotta say WOW.

That's a really great image and excellent render time! Do you mind posting your settings - please?

What's with the noise over on the left?

Something to do with the high backdrop skylight value, I'm going to apply the skylight to a dome and use the limit dynamic range in the KrayIndirectRays shader to see if clamping the value will make a difference, or I might just put a lumi poly in the window.
Bigstick: I'll post the settings when I get a minute.

You could also try adding limitdr -1; in the tailer commands. Not sure if it will help though.

Adding limitdr -1; to tailor of kray will force the OUTPUT of kray to have a limited range (remember kray works in floatingpoint range internally and convert that to what you see on the screen).
When you add limitdr 100% to a luminous surface you affect the photons/rays emitting from that surface only, the reflections from such surface will still be the same though. I think adding limitdr on the skysurface might be a very god idea.

Quick update using Skyportals

Ok managed to find sometime to test skyportals on this scene, I decided to make a QTVR instead of a boring still
Anyway, I split the skyportal "importance" 70:30% between the window and the door as in the real world your more likely to have more natural light coming through the window.
BTW render time was just over 1h total for all VR frames

Better is when You use one lumi poly for window and one lumi poly for door. Skyportal only one. (same name)
Control of strong light You can make on lumi poly.
Nice.

Doesn't seem to be working for me. Just a blank QT window pops up, but the play button is grayed out, and no time line. Basically can't do anything.

are you running Vista64 or XP64 by any chance, with QT 7.4.1?
