I have just started using kray and have some banding on some shadows.
What am I doing wrong? Appreciate any tips?

Use Area Light 3/4 or 4/4 . (I use 2/4)
Use Sun farther from room -
I use Sun as SPOTLIGHT 500 m, Inverse`2, Cone angle 2.0/0,3.
Try use Multiplier 2 and 20 bounce lights and stronger Fill Light (nice is SUNSKY)

Krays arealights are "adaptive" by default 1-4. If you use 1-1,2-2,3-3 and so on you force them to work like Lw arealights with softer noise instead.

This is probably a stupid question but what do you both mean about the area lights 2/2 etc....what does this relate to?

I believe they mean the settings in Kray's Quality tab, the part that says Lights Quality.
