My idea for Sun control from Physky:
- in Physky option will be button to choice direction Sun source and the best idea is to use default light in Layout on the start: Direct Light. You will not need move this light (is important only direction). So immediately on the start Layout and Kray you have ready Physky! The position of Sun will be easy catch by LW VPR or Kray VPR. can not be much easier
- If we will switch to SunSpot sytem then information about direction will be taken from SunSpot and this will allow us to make animation
- I am not sure about animation system in Physky Kray (I think easier would be both situation above by tracking lights from Lightwave)

When K3 core will start work properly then we will start add all thinks what are needed.
The code is so huge now with almost new parts and connect this to LW really need time. Also we must remember: to connect for example V-ray to sketchup you need much less job then connect Kray to Lightwave. This last one is very expanded and professional software with hundreds options and this all parts must work properly in Kray.
Will post soon some news or maybe first beta test renders

I hope beta comes out before december so that people are not so busy during holidays and we lose momentum.
Kray to be viable option it needs buffer support with exr, network rendering support, lw render flag support. IPR and bucket renderer would be a bonus.

Because its the best format with float files and can store multi layer buffers in single file.
.Hdr is impractical.

thnx for thos info jnom and ?
u can for exmple use *.png format with and other layers buffer each one alone *.png tooo so
can u exmplain a bit details thnx man . what the advantage u have mutliple buffer layer on one image ? without importing for exmple id surfaces , indirect , and direct ex..... z buffer ex.... ?!!
thnx in advance .

It will be a couple days delay with starting beta because is more job with Global Illumination engine then was thinking Grzegorz. Actually I expected first beta with only raytracing mode (no global illumination) but G. wants make more useful software in first time.

don't forget the alpha on object ID & surface ID buffer. also shadow, motion buffer & wireframe without triples .

I really do think a few words by the developers on the main page about the progress of Kray 3 are warrented by now. You'll have a product but no interest if someone doesn't attend to promotion at least on the most basic level.

Old Kray as product is all ready done. K3 is just update with what is missed so is not big deal. I remind: Kray is not V-ray or Maxwell with huge budget and huge prices ...but it doesn`t mean is worst then those software.
There is some thinks which G. will do in promotions (I do not know details) also he can not promote product which is in beta phase.
Patience.
From my experience:
The frustrations of users coming all the time not from software but from skill.
Why people jump from software to software (wasting money and time - especially this last one) to find better solution for theirs frustrations.
All the time I repeat: stick with one and dig (It doesn't matter what..will come time when you will become professional) Software is just tool.
I know many people which use V-ray (hundreds additional, support with tutorials, support with shaders, Nodes etc) ...but still nothing!
Apparently software with limits develop skill. To avoid tech problems in renders, users start "think" and this make them professional.
Edit:
I see many people who droped Kray because "is missing this and this, complicate, etc"
They use now LW Engine Native Render, Maxwell, V-ray, Octane...and still nothing.
This time what they waste for jumping they should use to dig with Kray!
I know very well Kray technically , last time I used LW Render Native Engine
in 2005 and for me nothing is impossible (except some thinks which I can not over jump because of HARD software limits) . Soon will be 8 years when I use Kray and I have not clue to change it for another software...

In a studio its not so common now to use 8 bit image. The only float image kray supports is .hdr. This format is not very good.
One reason why people like me are pushing for features like this is because studios are the ones that buy several software licenses.
Imho kray should be expanded to support 3dmax and maya. There's just too few lwvers around.
Software can't grow and develop further with just a handful of users. Lwcad is being ported to 3dmax.
Vray, even though its render engine has not been updated significantly for the past years, has focused on supporting features of the host app. This is why so many studios have adapted vray as its main renderer, versatility and compatibility.

I got info about K3:
- apparently first beta will have new AA and GI! and some another thinks. I expected just old engine connected to new core... so it is great news from G. It make delay but it is worth!
- immediately will post first renders and my observations with new core
- I will try make first comparisons between K2.x and K3

It is hard to say. The same you can ask coders from Octane...still they dig in code and still is almost finished.
On Kray side it is high probability before 2014 to be release full version. But always I say: always is something to do in code and those side roads make longer whole procedures.

I can be patient if it's bad a$$
I have expectations about buffers and file format (like DPX, EXR or EXR2)
