btw
Please remember to put glass layer all the time in separate layer with Layout exclude setup. Windows glass has no affection for scene (only effect is important) so better exclude it from global illumination. Also this avoid problems with photon errors and not necessary samples calculations.

do we need to do that if we use QMC?

Always.
If you use QMC still you use Photon Mapping. Different between QMC and Final Gathering is only in sampling. First phase (shooting photons) is exactly the same...so better not to "disturb" paths of photons :wink:
Of course you can use Path Tracing but for that you must change hardware :lol:
