Deep recurse tester

Small scene "benchmark" from Matti for stressing CPU.
I used full 40 bounce lights, QMC. You can also render this by Kray.exe.

I found in more or less complex scenes that rendering time is very inconstant. The same frame is rendered in 7 minutes, after 12, the third time in 9, next in 11, then again 7 minutes.
But on such simple scenes, the rendering time is very stable.

Actually I did not finish make this scene. The real purpose of this scene is to get deep recurse effect which....can kill all renders engines.
I will back soon to this with scene for K3 and LW19. Is very simple but this is killer scene but to see that it must be prepared for real 40 recurse.
Soon will post update.

Nice scene, but what i got in 2019.3 using kray 3.04 on Windows7 was slightly different. I changed nothing. :?:

Save this scene as it is and post here. I will check it.

Hi. I used the file above
(Benchmark_Matti_LW19.7z) uncompressed it, opened it and rendered it without any modification.
I did that on windows7 and on mac osx high sierra with identical result. On both systems: Lightwave 2019.0.3.

- Maybe the LW15 scene contains more configured kray MasterHandler:
Plugin MasterHandler 1 .SceneEditorStandardBanks
Plugin MasterHandler 2 SceneEditor
Plugin MasterHandler 3 Kray
Plugin MasterHandler 4 KrayQuickLWF
Plugin MasterHandler 5 KrayTonemapBlending
Plugin MasterHandler 6 KrayBuffers
Plugin MasterHandler 7 KrayPhySky
Plugin MasterHandler 8 Kray3Listner
Plugin MasterHandler 9 Kray3Settings
Plugin MasterHandler 10 Kray3AdvancedQuality
Plugin MasterHandler 11 Kray3AdvancedSampling
Plugin MasterHandler 12 Kray3AdvancedFG
Plugin MasterHandler 13 Kray3AdvancedPhotons
Plugin MasterHandler 14 Kray3Output
Plugin MasterHandler 15 Kray3Commander
Plugin MasterHandler 16 Kray3Camera
Plugin MasterHandler 17 Kray3Tonemap

- The LW19 scene contains only these:
Plugin MasterHandler 1 .SceneEditorStandardBanks
Plugin MasterHandler 2 Kray3Listner
Plugin MasterHandler 3 Kray3Settings
Plugin MasterHandler 4 Kray3AdvancedQuality
Plugin MasterHandler 5 Kray3AdvancedSampling
Plugin MasterHandler 6 Kray3AdvancedFG
Plugin MasterHandler 7 Kray3AdvancedPhotons

Ah now I remember. Everything is ok
LW15 is for Kray3
LW19 ONLY for LW Native Render...there is no settings for K3 at all.

I posted it to compare K3 and LW19 native.

I think you can use this scene in K3 also in LW19 but you must copy settings manually from LW15.

Yes that's what i hoped. I tried to do that and copied the settings. Nothing changed.
After some tests i figured out what actually differs:

The Materials for Ceiling/Walls use the Environment/Reflection_Blurring of 5% in LW2015.
These Settings are different in LW2019. The documentation mentions the Standard_Material/Shading_Model/Glossy_Reflections switch
to achieve the "old" behaviour. If you set the checkmark, you can use the Specular/Glossiness values.

I tried that, but i am still waiting for the renderer to finish it. Kray render times explode to 8 hours compared to more or less 20 minutes in LW2015 on the same old macbook.

Meanwhile we got LW2019.1. I'll check if there is something different compared to the LW2019.0.3 Release.

Thanks for all your efforts to make Kray available to the LW2019.x users :)

There should be any changes in speed render...is just different system.

Do not try use K3 for LW18+ right now. We have new bug with BSDF (FS#271 - BSDF specular slow/freeze).

This scene is synthetic and has nothing to do with reality. Scene is setup for deep recurse calculation and in this moment is impossible to render it by Lightwave Native Engine Render.
