How to do stereo spherical renders with Kray?

Hi!

Does anybody know how to do stereographic spherical renders with LW + Kray? I'm looking for something that works correctly in the sense of the graphic below:

Thanks!

Hi Thomas,

So for simple stereo:

If I remember correct you make a null and add 2 separate camera's to it. Animate the null and thats your right way to do it. You can then render camera left and camera right and make composite stereo movie. There's a bit of arguing about how far they should be apart, but I know 15 centimeter is a correct distance.

Another bad advice is to point both camera's to a focus null. That does not work either.

When you render stereo, you can lower the antialising and you dont need to render motion blur or depth of field. (anyway, they did it on Avatar, but thats 4K film...)

For 360 stereo:

Use Ubercam please. Just remember that the lowest resolution you need is 6K! It works with kray. You can buy it at liberty3D. Say hi to Kelly "cat" Meyers for me if you do.

Hope this help,

best!

...I gave you scene (lws) for that, perhaps you missed it.

Hi Janusz,

Damn, I do think I missed that! Any chance of sending it again? I tried to find it in your previous posts, but you post soooo much that it's like finding a needle in a haystack! :D

Hi Fabian,

Simple stereo is kids stuff, of course. I was referring specifically to stereo 360 views. UberCam seems to do the trick, but I'm wondering if the advanced camera in LW can't achieve the same result.

Hi Thomas,

Depends on how much time you want to spend on setting it up with lightwave camera versus Ubercam pricing. I think Ubercam also has some extra features that native LW lacks. (better algorithm to reduce distortion at the poles)

Grtz

Hehe, that's true. The time I spend to find another way will cost me more than the plugin!

I did find an interesting manual way, but of course this is a lot more work to do:

https://forums.oculus.com/community/dis ... or-gear-vr

As it stands, I'm going to wait till my gearVR headset arrives and test the UberCam demo image to see if it works well. There are some tricky aspects to stereo panoramas, and I want to see if they can be resolved somewhat. If not I'll just be feeding the same image to both eyes!
