I like the contrast and lighting of the first post.
I loaded the scene but I dont have IFW nodes.
There's octane scene too curious to test it.

Re: Animation: Photon cache vs GI cache
I usually bake background with shared gi option then render. Render moving elements with shadow using final gather interp with high fg settings next. Comp both in post. Never had success with uncached(bruteforce) for moving elements in kray. Rendertime is too long in kray with uncache and there's st...

What kind of animation are you doing? Archiviz with camera moving only or objects moving also?

Re: KRAY 2.56 is out
...The skill and artistic point is the most important and this doesn`t exist in software.... Yep that was my point. The renderers now are pretty close and its up to the artist to raise the quality. But the renderers must support certain features to have broader appeal and bigger, healthier userbase...

Re: KRAY 2.56 is out
I agree, I have not seen a lot of great renders out of octane yet. How about this http://bertrand-benoit.com/blog/2012/01/07/octane-corners/ Its old version octane renderer but its good renders. Ofcourse Bertrand Benoit is known in vray circles but there's many Bertrand Benoit at Evermotion. If the...

Re: KRAY 2.56 is out
The second link yes. And that shows its versatility to be used in compositing workflow. So again in k3 exr buffer support is needed for compositing workflow.
But they're good renders nonetheless. There's a lot more in their gallery and contest threads.

Re: KRAY 2.56 is out
For interiors and enclosed spaces gpu is slower because you need multiple bounces and clean render but I'm sure it will catch up. But for exterior shots its beautiful https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gLyhma-kuAw sky system, displacement, motionblur, instances with extremely low memory footprint, prob...

Re: Corona Render Engine
thx! Old Kray still Rocks ! and potential of this software is huge. Still waiting for G. answer. Old kray engine was always good. It just didn't support features that were badly needed by studios like micropoly displacement, exr buffers, hair. If those were added early on kray would have been on th...

Re: kray 3.0 preview
Have you used fprime? It was the best out of the box renderer in its time and still very useful today for animation. It didn't have any complex settings at all. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-o9Fod9KigU Vray and modo now are trying to simplify the settings to get good results in any scene 90% of t...

Thanks Janusz. Hopefully more features video/images comes out soon to keep newtek forums interested. Btw I mentioned this vray optimizer before. http://solidrocks.subburb.com/ Something similar for modo renderer now. http://www.openconcept3d.com/home/scriptsplugins/ Its good to take these concepts a...

Re: File naming when Buffers are used
The problem I face is that Z-Buffer pass doesn't export EXR Well hopefully all buffers are built in kray 3.0 with exr. Its one of the most requested feature for kray for almost a decade. And its true that users will not adapt to a render that doesn't have exr support. This is why octane render is i...
