Hi,
I just have read instancing tutorial and is like very not up to date, I mean, now instancing in KRay is so much easier. But text is still very helpful. I have one problem, http://www.kraytracing.com/wiki/Basic_Kray_Instancing plug-in seems to not be on-line any more, can someone post it here ...

Re: tree model to reverse engineer
cheers!
Now, looks much better (but I had to fight with UV maps - there was only one, so clip map (as being per object not per surface) did not work very well.)
Now I am trying to do something similar to Vue (just much cheaper and faster), wish me luck!
PS Can I have NoRender Flag on KRay object ...

Re: tree moder to reverse engineer
Just keep basic setup:
diffuse for leafs: ~70%
reflection 3-5%
translucency 30-60%
You can use specular 20/45 (fake reflection from Sun)
For translucency better is use map (more realistic)
We test now new function in Kray: double translucency, I hope this will raise quality for plants.
btw: I ...

Hi,
We bought KRay for presentation of Takrouna battle that our friend is preparing, he is II WW maniac. We need a lots of trees and I guess KRay is better than HDInstance. ;)

'when rendering animation keep steps on 1'
From the manual:
Rendering Animations
Please remember to keep Steps on FG tab to 1 when rendering animations. If you use 2 or more too each frame will add many new samples which will eventualy cause too much samples and rendering will become very slow. In future we will fix this problem though ...

Re: academic version gone?
How much was it, because I do not remember?
Will I, in case commercial job, be able to change the licence by just 'topping up' to full price?
Cheers
