Re: new exterior

Its great. i disected it and it could work. There's just the problem with sampling small areas. Any renderer would flicker. I would probably not use instancing on the very far objects and just use a texture. Rendering is not bad at 12 min for qc6600. He got 7+- minute renders for the animation (me ...

Re: Pro Arch vol II preview

... if it's quality material and information, which it sounds like it is, than it's worth every penny IMHO. If it saves me x to y amount of hours of hunting down information / figuring things out / solidifying understanding and testing ideas then the material has done it's job & more. I'm just g...

Re: "cool things under the hood"?

Being the first external renderer to be implemented / enabled inside LW is no small milestone I imagine. Congrats to all involved and many thanks for all your hard work & dedication folks. Future looks brighter and brighter each day. Here's hoping that LW10 (whenever we get news on what's in sto...

Whooooa ... hold on there partner ... he was my idol first :) :D Seriously tho ... I love these latest renders of yours Tom. In terms of mood/atmosphere/emotive/sense of place and space these are spot on in my view. Not to mention the architecture and design. Great stuff amigo. Can't wait to see mor...

I have nothing but praise and good memories for standalone LS, even tho I'd consider myself a total amateur in terms of it's capabilities at this late stage. We have(d) a copy at work that I used when I started ... but alas that's dissapeared along with my old boss. It was clunky and awkward from wh...

Actually, Lightscape is still used by us, because it is vastly superior in rendering and quality to most particle based radiosity systems. ( in terms of productivity vs rendering time ) Lightscape is way better than current LW9 radiosity. At rendering times of 2-3 minutes for a HD 1080 frame ( one ...

I don't want to start an argument here but there's also a flipside to that coin. If Vray did not exsist where would MAX find itself at this stage. In a very different ballpark I imagine. How many of us would be happy using MR or MAX's "own" aka Lightscape radiosity "solution" ? T...

Interesting approach aombk - thanks for the comparisons. On a slight side note - I've been mucking about with LW 9.2OB antialiasing for a while and found that the quickest and most painless method with the new AA/AS/MB combinations seems to be the age old trick of rendering at a higher res (and low ...

no probs ... there are a lot of things in LW that go above 100% .... and quite a few that go below 0 for that matter. Always worth knowing.

... drive diffuse above 100%

(not sure if it might possibly mess with other aspects of your scene tho - someone else might know if it does)

Top row are luminous polys@500%
Bottom row are diffuse polys@500%

Hey there jure,

10-20 sec is way better than 2.30sec that I was getting. Is that with the new fatures you mentioned or just with you optimising on OB2 settings ? If it's the latter looks like I have a long way to go with my Kray learning :) Thanks for the feedback, it's much appreciated.
