1.7 demo?

I was wondering if, or when, we will see a 1.7 demo version? I'm broke so I can't afford to purchase Kray and Lightwave is only something of a hobby. I don't want to sound ungrateful - Gregorz deserves a lot more than money for this beautiful piece of software! I just would like to continue my exper...

There already is "glass" but I think you mean a full window+frame like in your later renderings? Well the window size would be smaller which means less light but I am sure a little tweaking of the light falloff values would bring the brightness back up to where it was. Yes, it should look ...

I render to HDR which means two things: 1) anti-aliasing is completely broken when an area has a very high contrast ratio and 2) You need to remap the images to get the best results. I was just doing a gamma tone-map which is much the same as if I had rendered in Kray 1.6 to a non-HDR file format. I...

I am going to guess that it is because of all the soft reflections. It seems like johnny does what I do when surfacing: make nearly everything at least a little reflective and soft. The only downside is that the number of FG rays goes through-the-roof.

Here is the scene. The first 5 frames have the green light in the center of the room set to on and the rest have it off (as shown on forum.) The green light didn't render correctly in 1.6 so I never showed it.

Changes
Reduced: Textures changed from png to jpg.
Removed: Background HDR image.

My final render of Ana's scene (thank you!) was a fun learning experience.

I took the "Kraywell" scene by Ana and played with the lighting a lot. I used two lights: one "sun light" about 300% and yellow-orange and a "sky light" greenish-blue and about 75%. There are only 3 problems with the scene: 1) The obvious light leaking (could be a model...

Try turning the diffuse setting down for the floor. "Diffuse" should be less than 100% usually. "Diffuse" affects the degree of color bleeding in global illumination renderers because they use the "Diffuse" setting to scale the amount of diffuse light emitted from the s...

Nice start. the top image would gain from using paths=1 to solve the lightleak. Thanks Silver! I set paths=1 and the light leak did indeed disappear. Have you amplified the photons a bit to better light the insides of room? Yes, in a sense. I output to HDR and decided to increase the f-stop for tha...

WIP: My House

I always said I would model my house and finally I got around to doing it. This is a huge WIP meaning don't expect much! The home is a two story cape-cod style house built around 50 years ago. Standard wood-framed construction. All illumination is from an ImageWorld with a blurred HDRI probe. Both L...
